Meet Dr. Charugundla
Dr. Charugundla is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Dr. Prashant Charugundla is a highly accomplished oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Though he was born in the United States, he blends the rich traditions of his Indian heritage with his advanced Western medical training to provide integrative, patient-centered care. Known to his patients as “Dr. C,” he brings a unique perspective to oral health by combining technical expertise with compassion and collaboration.
During his five-year hospital-based residency, he trained under world-renowned surgeons Dr. Edward Ellis III and Dr. Daniel Perez, mastering complex surgical techniques while cultivating a strong foundation in interdisciplinary collaboration. This intensive training not only sharpened his surgical skills but also prepared him to excel in diverse healthcare settings.
After completing his residency, Dr. Charugundla further refined his expertise by serving as a full-time attending surgeon in the Plastics and Oral Facial Surgery Department at a leading pediatric trauma center in Virginia. In this role, he provided advanced surgical care at this Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center while also working as an attending surgeon in Level 1 Adult Trauma Centers across the region. These roles enabled him to seamlessly blend the precision of hospital-based care with the personalized approach of private practice, delivering comprehensive solutions for both routine and complex cases.
As a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Charugundla makes great efforts to remain at the forefront of his field. His commitment to education extends to his prior work as a clinical instructor for plastic and reconstructive surgery residents at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and his service as Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he trains the next generation of surgeons.
Outside of his professional life, Prashant and his wife Madison have embraced the beauty of the Pacific Northwest since moving to Northwest Portland in October 2023. They enjoy hiking in Forest Park, savoring the city’s vibrant food scene, and spending cozy foggy days reading with their young daughter, Safia and their cat Vas.
